Our next FRIDAY FROLIC is scheduled for Friday May 17th. This is the last of the Spring series. We will begin the fall season in September.
Enjoy the summer and take advantage of our Harbor 20 schedule, racing every week day evening all summer long!
On May 17, the Race Committee will be anchored in the anchorage north of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. The starting sequence for the first race will begin at 1400hrs. Come and enjoy a splendid day on the water. Warm weather, gentle breezes and an empty bay. Then join us afterwards for beverages in the Pirates Den. A Perfect Friday Afternoon!!
Please also note that Peter Haynes will be presenting his half-day “Rules Around the Race Course” interactive clinic on Sunday, June 9, 1-5 PM at LIYC. It is a great opportunity to catch up and understand the rules as codified in the 2017-2020 edition. Cost will be $45.00. Watch for an update as to when online registration will be open…
Seaya on the starting line,
Phil Ramser

BCYC Taco Tuesdays Tuesday, May 14
BYC Twilights Wednesday, May 15

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of sailing on April 12. Wind out of the West at 12 to 15 knots, a sunny warm day and seven boats to cross the starting line.
We had three lengthy races and then the Race Committee called it a day.
We adjourned to the Pirates Den where Bob Yates bought the first round. Along with great pictures Larry Parker filmed it was a great day.
Newport at its best!
Our next Friday Frolick is scheduled for April 26, be there!!
Seaya, Phil Ramser

The most recent FRIDAY FROLIC was cancelled due to some very cold and windy conditions. The Women on the Water races scheduled for 11 am were also cancelled due to “storm warnings” being announced.
After lunch conditions had not improved with wind out of the West at 15 knots gusting to 17 knots. So, we displayed the Race Abandoned signal on the mast of the committee boat and on the mast at NHYC. At 2pm we packed up and left.
Our next Friday Frolic is scheduled for March 22 and we are hopeful we will enjoy the usual sunny, warm and gentle breezes we are accustomed too.
So, mark your calendars and plan to join the Friday Frolic at 2pm on March 22!
Seaya on the water,
Phil

The date for the next Friday Frolic is February 22, so put it on your calendar and join the fun! Remember, the races start at 2:00 PM off the Race Committee Boat anchored north of Newport Harbor Yacht Club.
The last event held on February 05 was terrific, a sunny and warm winter day, with eleven Harbor 20’s answering the call and no traffic on the bay. Andy Binkerd and Jeff Bates ran the Race Committee with help from Bob McDonald who set the marks. We quickly completed four races and met in the Pirates Den to discuss the day’s event.
John Davies and his wife Sharon raced their recently acquired boat and Terry Drewry sailed with some friends visiting from the East Coast in a rental boat. Pat Scruggs crewed for Terry Duffield and they pushed the front runners , Kurt Weiss and Ed Kimbel, who sailed with their wives as crew.
Truly a great day!
Our next event is February 22. Come and enjoy the day!

Harbor20 Class & Fleet Members,
Membership within the Harbor20 Class Association has been changed in the past year to be an annual membership that begins on Feb 1 each year, and is valid for 1 year.
Each year, all members must renew their membership online on the Harbor20.org website to remain current and be eligible to participate in Class and Fleet events.
In the past, we had a system where the membership would renew on the sign up date, that your membership renewal could be anytime during the year. In 2018, the Board decided to make all memberships renew on February 1st of each year. That means, there was a period where some members had to pay partial year (pro-rated) memberships to sync up with the Feb 1st renewal.
If you signed up, or renewed your Membership in the last 12 months, you probably paid a pro-rated fee (less than the annual fee), which paid you through Feb 1st, 2019.
If you signed up (or renewed) your Membership in the past month or so, you may have been charged $0 since we had a grace-period enacted for anyone trying to renew early.
Do to the limitations of our online membership subscription system, the Automatic renewal to your credit card was not automatic, meaning, you will be required to log into your account on the Harbor20.org website, go to the Members tab, and Your Account menu item, and then click on the Subscriptions item on the left, to see your current status. Many of of you may have receive an email notification saying you had to renew with a Pay Here link which you should do ASAP to renew your membership.
I encourage you to go to the website THIS WEEKEND, and log in, go to Your Account menu, and renew your membership. I will be offering online support for a large portion of the weekend via online Chat on the website to help with any difficulties.
Click here to start. Or go here to sign up with a new Membership if your not given the option to renew.
