Note to all Fleet 1 competitors planning on participating in the NHYC Spring Regatta this weekend:

For this regatta, the Fleet 1 Board of Directors have altered the APPENDIX A: Rules for Maintaining Fleet Race Divisions as it applies to promotion from C Division to B Division and Re-Qualification in B Division.  The change is as follows:

If at least ten (10) boats start in the C Division, then both the 1st and 2nd place winners of the regatta in C Division will automatically be promoted to the B Division. If less than 10 boats start in the C Division, the Rule will not change as currently written.

The Re-Qualification finish places for B Division only are:  5 boats=1^st place; 6 boats=1^st and 2^nd; 7-8 boats=1^st through 3^rd; 9-11 boats=1^st through 4^th; 12+ boats=1^st through 5^th.

The purpose of this temporary rule change is to try to balance the number of qualified boats in the A, B and C Divisions. Currently there is a significant un-balance.

Immediately after the Winter Series #3 this Sunday, NHYC will be hosting a dock-side race debriefing / recap. Brian Bissel will host a “White Board” talk with the winners and will discuss their strategies, what worked and what didn’t. Learn what you did right, or wrong, or should have done. Come to the docks immediately after the last race to join this informative and educational event.

Dear Harbor 20 Class Association Owner Member,

As a current and active Owner Member of the Harbor 20 Class Association, you will be asked to participate in a vote for the 207 Harbor 20 Class Association Board of Directors. This vote will take place online within the next several weeks.

The Harbor 20 Class Associations ByLaws, section ID3 state:

I.D.3. A Nominating Committee will be appointed by the Board each Fall to nominate candidates for the open Director positions. The Committee is required to consider suggestions for candidates from all Fleet Captains. The slate will be communicated to the Owner Members by December 10th. Five or more owners may nominate additional candidates. The Board will hold an open and fair election by the Owner Members of all nominated candidates.

A nominating committee was formed and candidates have been solicited from all the Fleet Captains. The nominating committee is recommending the following individuals for the 2017 Class Association Board of Directors.  An election will be held via email in the upcoming weeks. This email is only a notification of the nominated candidates as required by the ByLaws.

This annual event is the official social event ending of Harbor 20 season sailing season.

The new Fleet 1 Board of Directors is installed, and the perpetual awards are presented, which include:

• Arthur B Strock Service
• First Mate
• Grand Master
• Phylis Rawlins Drayton

The event begins with a hosted reception, followed by served dinner, and ends with dancing.

We are able to reduce last year’s price from $100 to $87 per person if you purchase the tickets by Friday, November 25th.

The Fleet 1 (Newport Beach, CA) sail purchase window for purchasing a new main or new jib will close in 2 weeks, November 30th.  This is your only opportunity to order a new sail until after the Championship Regatta in 2017.
