Commodores Cup June 23rd. SAVE THE DATE!
Your Fleet 5 officers have been working with AYC to gain additional recognition for our growing H-20 fleet. This has resulted in a very special opportunity for Fleet 5 members. The weekend of June 22 -24 will mark the 126th anniversary of Annapolis Yacht Club. The weekend will commence with the Commodores Reception on Friday June 22. On Saturday, June 23rd, plans are being made to hold a special Harbor-20 Commodores Cup Race. The plan is to invite all of the current and past AYC commodores to race on Harbor-20’s. Each boat will sail with a three person crew, which will include the boat owner, a Commodore, and a crew person selected by the commodore. The Commodore and his/her selected crew will race the boar and will look to the owner for “hands off” advice on boat operating and performance. This race will mark the first award of a special Commodores H-20 Cup trophy. The trophy will include the names of the winning Commodore, crew, and boat name and a keeper award will be given. This race event will have a good chance of becoming an annual club anniversary event featuring H-20’s, and will be a unique opportunity for our fleet. A special luncheon for all of the race participants will follow the race, and will serve as the awards ceremony for this event.
After lunch, Fleet 5 members can participate in a meet and greet with fellow club members who are interested in the prospect of owning a Harbor-20. Since our boats will be docked in front of the Club, it will be easy to offer to take interested people for an introductory sail. Essentially this will be a Harbor 20 Day at the Club. A lot of people will be attending the 125th activities, and we will have a tremendous opportunity to further advance our fleet. What I need to know now is how many Fleet 5 Members and boats will be available to participate in the event on June 23rd.

Cinco de Mayo Sailing Lunch Cruise Celebration
As announced in Peter’s email, we are looking forward to entertain the fleet on our home on May 5th (weather day May 6th). As stated, the plan is to launch our boats at 10:00 AM and proceed with a group sail to the Brooks’ house on Ridout Creek off from Whitehall Creek. Margaritas and lunch will be waiting at the dock upon your arrival around 1:00 PM. Around 2:30 we will start the sail back or be towed back in order to haul boats by 5:00 PM. This is our first social event under sail, and invited friends and family are welcome to attend. Pleas let Peter know by May first if you can attend, and the number of people on your boat. trogdon@weems-plath.com
New H-20 Owners
We have three new owners who are in the process of joining Fleet 5. Michael Turner and Rick Hill have jointly purchased h20 (Sail No. 186) from Garth Hichens. Garth’s new H-20 (Sail No. 339) has arrived, and is in the process of being named. Ruth Wright has also purchased a used H-20, and is looking forward to joining us to both race and socialize. Please introduce yourself and welcome to Ruth, Rick, and Michael to our fleet.

To my knowledge, I do not know of anyone from Fleet 5 who is planning to trailer their boat to Hilton Head to participate in this event. It is also unfortunate that the race falls on the same weekend as our Cinco de Mayo social get together. I know that the folks from SCYC would like to have us involved, and perhaps next year we can have a few boats make the trip. If you are interested in this year’s event, please contact David Wilson, Yachting Director. His phone number is 843-540-4797
